Électricité: Illuminating Perspectives
In celebration of Women’s History Month 2025, the Peoria Women’s Club (PWC), in collaboration with the Illinois Women Artists Project (IWAP), is proud to present the inaugural juried exhibition showcasing the work of contemporary female artists from Peoria, Tazewell, and Woodford counties. The exhibition will feature both 2- and 3-dimensional media, and marks the beginning of an annual tradition honoring women and the arts in our community.
Kristan H. McKinsey, Director of the Illinois Women Artists Project, will present an illustrated lecture on the lives and artistic contributions of several women from central Illinois who pursued creative careers in the 19th and 20th centuries, including two founding members of the Peoria Women’s Club. Through their stories, McKinsey will highlight their significant impact on the region’s cultural history during a time when societal norms largely discouraged women from working outside the home.
