Designed by Hotchkiss & Harris and constructed from Bedford Stone and Roman pressed brick, the building’s Ionic columns, classical pediment, and elevated entryway reflect the era’s ideals of enlightenment through education. The library also honors the civic vision of Andrew Carnegie and influential local figures like A.G. Tyng and Henry Means Pindell.
This landmark tour offers a meaningful look at Peoria’s architectural and cultural past—an opportunity to deepen our appreciation for history, reading, and women’s enduring civic leadership. Registered participants are asked to meet at the Lincoln Branch library located at 1312 W. Lincoln Avenue in Peoria by 9:45AM in the lobby. There is no cost to attend this event.
