Epsilon Sigma Omicron (ESO)
A Self-Paced Reading Program for Lifelong Learners
The Peoria Women’s Club proudly participates in Epsilon Sigma Omicron (ESO)—an honorary educational society for members of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs (GFWC).
ESO encourages clubwomen to explore new ideas, broaden their interests, and develop intellectually through books. Members read at their own pace throughout the year, making ESO a wonderful companion program for members already participating in the Peoria Chautauqua Literary & Scientific Circle (CLSC).
Peoria ESO members will read independently, complete short forms listing the books they’ve read twice a year, and enjoy two private day-trip tours of notable libraries across Illinois each year.
How It Works
ESO participation is open to any Peoria Women's Club member. Joining is easy—just start reading! There’s no cost to participate, and members may select their own books and categories based on personal interests or choose from suggested GFWC lists. All certificates and pins are currently sponsored by our Programming Department at no cost to participants.
Recognition is awarded as you reach reading milestones:
Pledge – Welcome to ESO!
Member – Read 16 books
Eligible to receive the first certificate and pinStar – Read 40 books
Torch – Read 64 books
Century – Read 100 books
2nd Century and Beyond – Continue earning recognition for every additional 100 books read
