Film Noir Series: Gilda

  • Peoria Women's Club 301 Northeast Madison Avenue Peoria, IL, 61603 United States (map)

The Peoria Women’s Club is bringing mystery, glamour, and intrigue back to the big screen with the launch of a new Film Noir Series, debuting summer 2025. Inspired by a beloved film series co-hosted in the 1980s, this updated program will feature three classic noir films presented by Steve Tarter, retired Peoria Journal Star business editor and local blogger/podcaster, and Maggie Nelson, longtime PWC member and co-founder of the original series.

“We’re bringing film noir back to the Peoria Women’s Club for the first time in 22 years,” says Steve Tarter. “This series is a chance to reintroduce audiences to the films that defined the genre. For some, it will be a nostalgic return—others will be discovering these iconic performances for the very first time.”

Each film screening will be free, open to the public, and held at the historic Peoria Women’s Club at 301 NE Madison Ave.

Guests are invited to enjoy dinner and a signature cocktail beforehand at Craft 309, located just across the street at the Four Points by Sheraton. In collaboration with Craft 309, custom cocktails will be inspired by each film’s style and storyline, with all food and beverage sales handled directly by the restaurant.

Popcorn, nostalgic movie candy, and soft drinks will be available at the Club for a small donation to support event costs.

Seating is limited, so pre-registration is encouraged to reserve your spot!
