Restoring Her Story: Springdale Cemetery Work Day
Tuesday, July 28, 2026
8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Springdale Cemetery
Peoria Women’s Club members and guests are invited to join Bradley University faculty and staff for Restoring Her Story, our second annual Springdale Cemetery preservation work day.
Together, we will once again gather to care for Lydia Moss Bradley's gravesite while also honoring several women central to the history of the Peoria Women’s Club, including founder Clara Parsons Bourland, Lucie Brotherson Tyng, and Julia Proctor White. Through hands-on stewardship and remembrance, this event helps preserve the stories and resting places of women whose leadership in philanthropy, education, reform, and civic life continues to shape Peoria today.
This event marks the beginning of our annual lead-up to the Lydia Moss Bradley Birthday Party and offers a meaningful opportunity to connect with Bradley University while preserving an important part of our shared history.
Volunteers are encouraged to bring:
Work gloves
Hat
Sunscreen
Bug spray
Water bottle
Old toothbrushes (helpful for detail cleaning)
Supplies including headstone cleaner, buckets, brushes, garden tools, and trash bags will be provided.
Whether you can stay for the full morning or stop by to lend a hand, we hope you’ll join us as we help preserve the places and stories of the women who helped shape Peoria.
