October Luncheon
October Luncheon
Join us for an afternoon of intrigue and theatrical storytelling as we kick off a month of mystery leading up to the 007 Ball.
Following lunch, we welcome Laura Keyes, acclaimed historical interpreter, performing as Irene Adler—the only woman to outsmart Sherlock Holmes. In A Scandal in Bohemia (1891), Adler earns Holmes’s admiration not through romance, but by matching his intellect and staying one step ahead.
Adler’s independence and cleverness made her a rare figure in Victorian literature. She stood out at a time when women were often written as either villains or victims. That same spirit has long defined the women of the Peoria Women’s Club, who have pursued knowledge, creativity, and public service since 1886. This performance offers a fitting tribute to women who think for themselves and change the story.
No video recording will be allowed of Laura Keyes’ performance
